Extreme Weather – Course Closure

The ACT Health Directorate has upgraded their health advice to the community due to the deterioration of air quality across Canberra from the heavy smoke to extreme. As you would be aware, this smog which is impacting the ACT from fires across the border is extremely thick and expected to linger over the coming days.

This extreme rating advises that everyone should avoid all physical activity outdoors.

In addition to this, conditions will also be intensified by the hot temperatures forecast for Friday and Saturday.

As a result of this warning the club will be closed for all golf activities on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 January.

We will reassess the conditions on Saturday afternoon and will advise accordingly if the course is to be open for golf on Sunday.

We have reached this decision through advice from the ACT Government website and other Environmental consultants. Please also see the link from NSW Govt – Health information on Maintaining health during bushfires. & bushfire smoke.

The Clubhouse will remain open over this period.

For all of our Members with homes in areas currently being affected by bush fires, our thoughts are with you and we wish you all the best in this difficult time.
